FELTON KART TRACK MAY BE BACK ON YOUR CALENDAR

.

Possible good news for Northumbrian Classic karters - I have been in touch with the new owner of the old kart track at Felton. He has offered me a trial run out on the old track so I will be inviting 6 class I karts and 6 class IV karts to come to Felton to see how we would get on as far as noise is concerned. This will take place late September/early October. A weekend will be chosen around the weather forecast and it will be a Saturday. The Class I's will be out separately from the Class IV's. I will be in touch to invite six of each Class. I'll be asking you to do a couple of things to your karts. Firstly, try and cover the carbs up to stop any stones or debris getting in as the track has quite a few small stones on it at this time. Also, it would be a good idea to try and quieten down your exhausts with an extra silencer if possible, as this test at the track will be around noise. I was very pleased to meet Mr Allan and he is just as enthusiastic for us to go as we are!

.

If this all comes to something, our dreams will have all come true! So let's keep our fingers crossed that everything goes well!

.

For more updates, watch this space.

.

Regards Jim Coulthard

I have given one of my silencers to my mate who is a specialist in exhausts for Motorsport to see if there is anything that would be "cheap and cheerful" way to reduce the noise for the day.

will let you know the results asap

Steve

ps this reminds me of the old days of work parties to get Felton ship shape!!

FELTON KART TRACK BRUSH UP WORK PARTY

Hi

Pending weather:

I will be at the kart track at Felton on Saturday 5th September at 10am, this will be the first sweep up of the track as it will take more than 1 day to clean it. I do have a small road sweeper organized for after an agreement of use has been agreed. If any of the local karters want to join me give me a ring on Tel O1665 714169. You will need to bring a good stiff brush, i have just bought a 24'' stiff brust for £11.99. a few spades may come in handy, i will take a wheel barrow. Bring something to eat and drink if you are stopping all day.

Regards, Jim

Well what a great sunny day we had sweeping the track today, that took me back 50 years. It reminded me of what it was like at weekend work parties, we got the hole track swept and the dummy grid. I would like to thank all who turned out, it was great fun, the crack & banter was flowing well. I will bring 2 extra 24'' brushes up for those who only brought they 12''a. The track is now ready for the first outing on the first or second Saturday in October pending on the weather. Again a big thank you to you all.

Jim

It brings back so many happy memories seeing the pictures of Felton.  It would be fantastic to be able to drive on this track once more.  Having seen such a brilliantly organised and well supported annual event at Rowrah (and some 'old' friends!!)   it would be nice if this type of event could be scheduled for Felton,  Happydays Lloyd

From photos track looks in fairly good condition considering it's not been used for quite a few years.

Hi

I went back to the track today to see if the rubbish the fly tippers had dumped on the road leading into the track just off the A1 had been removed, it has. From now on you can get to the track from the A1 entrance.
