About Me

I started racing at age 13 in 1968. The first kart I raced was a Zip mark2 with a Parilla BA13 motor. My local track was Fulbeck. I was a member of the British Junior Team in 1970 racing a Deavinson's Sprint with a Saetta V18 prepared by John Mills.

I raced in 100 International in 1971 and 100 National 1972 -74, using a Sprint and later a Blow Gnat

Other prioirities took over temporarily but in 1981 I stared racing again, this time based in Wigan racing at Three Sisters in 100 National, 100 Britain and finally 125 P&R. One of my last races in the UK was actually at Rowrah sometime in 1989.

I moved to Australia December 1989 and raced at the Oakleigh Kart Track, Melbourne in Senior National before retiring in 1991.

I have had some interesting karts from a vintage point of view in the early days, and will be posting photos sometime soon.

I retired from work a couple of years ago and have started messing around with karts again. I have a couple of old Australian karts and engines I'm working on at the moment. I've recently joined Historic Karting Victoria (Australia)

It would be nice to hear from anyone who remembers me. I've got quite a lot of old Karting magazines and other stuff that may interest you.

Hi Pete
Paul and his Dad made 2 square tubed Bitsatube karts that I know of, I do have a photo of them in the same garage. He made one with a side engine mount, the one I own and a rear engine mounted behind the seat. I will have to put the photos of them on the site.

Regards Jim

Its great to see Paul Fletchers old Bitsatube is in good hands with Jim. I dont think he made two though? My Dad briefly bought the square tubed Bitsatube from John Mills in January 1967 with a Parilla S13 fitted - for 70 pounds! I actually found the receipt recently and have some old photos I will try and scan and send to you in case you think I'm b**sh***ing.
We didnt have the kart very long - I think my Dad thought it was too fast for me !!
